View Event Details

This program concerns some of the important events, themes, and both famous and anonymous people of Revolutionary America. Washington, Franklin, Hamilton, and their military and political activities all figure in–as do unnamed authors of several songs.

Arranged from period sources, you will hear songs and patriotic tunes enjoyed not just by soldiers and officers, but by all classes of people. This music includes marches, ballads, and theater songs as well as pieces from the concert hall and dancing assembly. The instruments used in this performance include the harpsichord (spinet), violin, English guitar, Spanish guitar, hammered dulcimer, and flutes.
