ONLINE: Our Future on Mars? (Exploring Space Lecture)

Touching down on Mars 50 years ago this summer, the two Viking landers obtained high-res images of the Martian surface, recorded data on atmosphere and surface composition, and even searched for possible life on Mars. This ambitious NASA mission provided invaluable information about the red planet and paved the way for future orbiters, landers, and rovers. The information collected over the past 50 years informs today’s plans for one day sending humans to explore Mars.
