District Day 2026

Come and join us to honor D.C. Emancipation Day, which emancipated 3,000 enslaved individuals in the nation's capital. Residents throughout the area — including the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia — are invited to the museum for a day of live performances, a trunk show, and a special District Day menu from the Sweet Home Café.

District residents presenting a valid ID will enjoy free admission. Non-district residents can also enter for free, but they must register in advance.
