We Make History: After Dark with Marcus Mitchell

Be among the first to experience, We Make History, during an exclusive sneak peak After Dark at Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum.

This special evening invites you to step inside our newest exhibition before it opens to the public, exploring the dynamic practice of making history in greater Washington, D.C. by changemakers, who improve our communities, and history keepers, who preserve and share our stories.  Discover how change happens and how recording it helps us remember the past, live in the present, and shape the future.

The night will be set to a vibrant, soulful soundtrack by acclaimed DMV saxophonist and pianist Marcus Mitchell, joined by his band and vocalist, creating an elevated after-hours experience.

Guests will enjoy light bites provided by DCity Smokehouse and beverages, available while supplies last.  Must be 21+ years old to attend this event.

Join us as we open our doors and set the tone for a weekend of reflection, connection, and history.

The opening celebrations for We Make History are sponsored by AARP and Pepco.
