Opening Day at ACM: We Make History

Join the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum as we reopen our doors with a day of engaging, family-friendly experiences celebrating the opening of We Make History.

Ground the day with a restorative sound bath, explore the FRESHFARM ACM Farm Stand, and enjoy Big Moments, Little Stories, a story time and hands-on art activity for families with children, 18 months to 5 years of age.

Engage in a thought-provoking In Conversation with the Curator panel on the Plummer Family Diary, and stop by our portrait station to capture a keepsake that reflects this moment in time. Throughout the day, ACM’s Educators will lead guided tours of the exhibition, offering a deeper dive into how changemakers and history keepers shape our communities.

Get creative with Collage Your Story, Your History, a hands-on workshop with Pyramid Atlantic that invites you to reflect on your own story and its place in a shared history.

Opening Day is an invitation to connect, create, and reflect. Programs for all ages, suitable for families and museum seekers.

The opening celebrations for We Make History are sponsored by AARP and Pepco.
