DC | Hands On: Quillwork Designs

View Event Details

Indigenous peoples of the Americas have long decorated clothing and objects with porcupine quills as expressions of care, respect, and love. Quillwork is a skillful artistic tradition that has been shared across generations. Young visitors and their families are invited to the imagiNATIONS Activity Center to learn about how quills have been used in this art form and to explore quillwork‑inspired designs using colorful, contemporary materials inspired by objects in the National Museum of the American Indian collection. All ages welcome.
