Curator Anya Montiel (Mestiza/Tohono O'odham descent) will provide a brief guided tour of Stretching the Canvas: Ten Decades of Native Painting, which tells the story of how American Indian art expanded after World War I and how Native painters began to advocate for themselves in a world that often ignored their talent. The wide range of subjects in the featured artworks offers an opportunity for visitors to engage more deeply with the content of the exhibition.
