Think B4U Move: The Art of Strategy Chess Tournament & Program

Presented in collaboration with the Big Chair Chess Club, this free community chess event will feature a three-round unrated chess tournament, beginner-friendly chess lessons, open play in the Sunburst Lounge, and interactive trivia highlighting Washington, D.C. history and chess history. Centered on the idea of chess as a moving art, the program invites youth, families, and community members of all skill levels to engage with strategy, culture, and connection in a vibrant museum setting. Guests are welcome to compete, learn, observe, and celebrate the cultural impact of chess in Washington, D.C., and beyond. 
 
The Big Chair Chess Club, guided by the motto “Think B4U Move,” empowers youth and communities through chess-based education, mentorship, and life skills development. By blending chess with social-emotional learning and STEAM education, the club transforms the game into a platform for personal growth, opportunity, and community impact.
