Community Day

Celebrate Community Day at the National Museum of African Art with a full day of programming!

Each September, the museum opens its doors to visitors of all ages to inspire them to learn more about the peoples and cultures of Africa and its diaspora through exhibitions, art-making, live performances, tours, and more!

Join us for a Pan African Fabric & Fashon showcase. Designers from nine nations each interpret a shared textile framework that incorporates symbolic references representing the five regions of the African continent—North, East, South, West and Central Africa and highlight the significance of African textile tradition. A Sounds of Africa concert will close the day with Live Arts performances!
