Hands-On Learning with the Smithsonian Toolkit and a High School Design Lab | Cultivating Learning

Join Anne Taylor Brittingham, Director of the Office of Educational Technology, and Liz Lloyd, high school art teacher at San Marin High School in Novato, CA, for a practical, hands-on guide to incorporating objects into any classroom. Discover the Smithsonian’s object-based learning toolkit, developed in partnership with classroom teachers, that makes incorporating museum objects into the classroom easy and fun. Then, hear how a high school art teacher is using object-based learning to help redefine the secondary art studio as a “Design Lab” for a specialized 4-year Art & Science pathway. Project examples will be shared!
