The Civil Rights Movement: The Power of Words in Shaping an Image and Legacy | Cultivating Learning

Join an educator from the National Museum of African American History and Culture to explore the power of oratory to record and preserve important moments in our lives. Participants will explore a selection of objects related to Malcolm X’s life in order to highlight the power of words and personal meaning making. Participants will leave with resources and discussion prompts to deepen their understanding of Malcolm X’s life and his role in the Civil Rights era, as well as tools for students to tell and preserve their own stories.

Program Details:
This is a Zoom webinar with automatic captioning. You’ll be able to participate using the chat and Q&A, and your camera and mic will be disabled. We’ll record and post the webinar on the Smithsonian Learning Lab’s Events page approximately 72 hours after the session ends.
