Understanding Sculpture

View Event Details

In a four-session course, art historian Joseph Paul Cassar provides a close look at the art of sculpture. He begins with a definition of the art form and provides an analysis of varying techniques, moving to an historical outline of sculpture examining early representations of the nude human figure. He examines the work of Michelangelo Buonarotti, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Antonio Canova, and Rodin. He also discusses modern sculptors including Sir Jacob Epstein, Constantin Brancusi, Alexander Calder, and David Smith. (World Art History Certificate elective, 1 credit)
