University of Nebraska State Museum

An outline of an elephant with tusks in black with a circle around it. On the lower left hand side are the words University of Nebraska State Museum in all capital letters.

The University of Nebraska State Museum is Nebraska's own premier museum of natural history. The State Museum collects, preserves, and interprets objects and associated data about the natural world. The collections place a special interest in Nebraska and the northern Great Plains, highlighting geological, biological, and cultural diversity. Its membership in the Smithsonian Affiliations program has brought in guest scholars and traveling exhibitions from the Smithsonian Institution, as well as long-term loans like a collection of scarab beetles from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
